Popplet is a Web 2.0 tool to use in the classroom. You can create webs to help gather your ideas. In Science, we are discussing solids, liquids, and gases. The students would tell me what were some solids, liquids, and gases. While they were talking, I was creating a Popplet for the class to see. I would then also add a picture to help the lower ELLs understand. I also use Popplets to help with writing. For our Solids unit, we discussed different types of solids, where we find solids, and how do we measure solids. The students were able to write a paragraph by using the Popplet. Check out some of my Popplets that I created.
This is very ingenious; kids must love it. But as I teach high school in a poor area, we don’t have access to iPads and the like, so these apps cannot be used in my classrooms.
